an alternative to traditional summer street performances was needed when the covid-19 pandemic prevents us from meeting at public spaces. the art pieces all have the purpose of decreasing the citizens feeling of insecurity or anonymity. 

KEEP SAFE SOCIAL DISTANCING WITH DIY HAT

 

 

the corona hat is a simple hack built of a spare part reverse sensor, a rechargeable battery pack from a broken robot vacuum cleaner and a busted globe. when fellow citizens get closer than 1.5 meter it beeps loudly. when  someone get even closer it beeps even more intensely.

THE INTERNET OF SOUNDS

 

 

hearo is world’s only Internet of sounds device. Instead of adding more and more connected, single-function, electronic devices into your home, the acoustic and musical properties of everyday objects become programmable digital controllers. hearo connects to your smartphone where you assign any sound in your home to control digital actions of your choice using ifttt programming. the system comes with a number of ifttt setups that can be connected to any sound, but the more the Hearo users create and share their own setups, the more versatile Hearo becomes. This is a IoT system that opens for a new type of creativity, to explore the musical and acoustic qualities of the objects in our homes that we cherish.

composing music with barcodes where the numbers in the code control melody, rhythm and sound. making shopping far more creative. barcode scanner raspberry pi battery pack pure data euclidean rhythms sound synthesis and notes based on each individual barcode builds loops of various length by max björverud film by håkan lidbo.

INTERACTIVE URBAN PLANNING BLOCKS

 

 

this is an interactive installation where the visitors can create their own city with its citizens. the challenge is to create a city that is diverse and inclusive with a good balance of  tenants; residential, business, commercial and leisure. then the city will flourish. If the balance is bad, the citizens will be less happy and the city will  decay. it's a game that a 3-years old can enjoy, as well as senior urban planners.

MUSIC TRANSFORMS THE CITY'S WORST PLACES

 

 

the singing tunnels is a system that recognise when someone sing a note. then the tunnel sings back the same note but with the voice of a beautiful choir. the tunnel becomes a playful, comforting and musical companion. the singing tunnels are also self-learning. they remember all tones that everyone have sung. and sometimes they burst out in a melody, created by all the most common notes. so each tunnel develops it’s own musical dialect, depending on the collective musicality of the local citizens. 

A CITY BECOMES A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT

 

 

norrköping city symphony was performed by hundreds of local citizens, 12 loudspeakers, 20 motion sensor loudspeakers, 40 mobile loudspeakers carried by the citizens, 15 students from the norrköping school of music production, lars stjernkvist (chairman of city council), church bells of norrköping city hall and music played simultaneously on local radio P4 östergötland. the event was a part of unesco creative cities and music tech fest stockholm.

A HOUSE DEFYING GRAVITY

 

 

because of gravity we can’t sleep in the ceiling or have dinner on the wall – and most of the space in our houses remain unused. tetra house solve this problem as you can flip it in 4 different orientations. a limited 30 ft2 floor space become a 4 room flat at 120 ft2; kitchen, living room/workspace, bedroom and a shower. tetra house is developed and built by rumtiden collaborators architect farzaneh farkish and artist hakan lidbo, first exhibited at "creative city", washington usa. 

OFFICE UNFOLDING FROM ALMOST NOTHING

 

 

how dense can we live and work in future mega cities? can an office be anywhere? flatpack office is a 0.75 x 0.75 x .03 meter unit that can unfold to a workspace for 2 persons. 25 units will occupy a space of 0.75 x 0.75 x 0.75 meter and unfold to an office for 50 people. by anne skoug obel and håkan lidbo

A TENNIS GAME FOR THE BLIND

 

 

invisiball is a game concept for two persons. it’s a game played in a dark room, on a 2 x 8 meter court with loudspeakers in the 4 corners, blindfolded or by blind people. the ball is represented by a tone, mimicking earthly gravity. the racket plays a tone depending on it's position in height so the player can hit the ball at the same pitch, but also depth and left/right-orientation.

CHURCH PROJECTION FOR HOPE

 

 

jaime reyes created a 3- day interactive installations in Reykjavik, transforming Hallgrímskirkja into a symbol of hope. “write for rights" is the largest human rights campaign taking place in over 150 countries each year in december , hosted by amnesty international. the campaign collects signatures and  letters for 10 urgent cases of human rights violations, to put pressure on the responsible authorities. we wanted to show the people the impact their signature can make.

A BUILDING VISUALISING DATA

 

 

data flow is an interactive installation using reykjavik’s new culture center harpa as a display. it’s a representation of how the information travels through the internet. the visuals patterns are generated using glsl shaders that are controlled using live data and using the harpa's led facade to visualize it. when the system detects a significant change in the information a new pattern is generated.
